Hamlets Journey from Antic Disposition to Actual Insanity Essay
Hamlets Journey from Antic Disposition to Actual Insanity - Essay Example Since Hamlet is guided by the ghost of the previous king about his murder by poisoning him into the ear while sleeping in the orchard, the protagonist appears to be determined to retaliate to his uncle i.e. King Claudius and mother Queen Gertrude eventually. He this seeks relief in pretending insanity, but subsequently appears to be becoming real insane out of sheer rage and fury in the wake of the disclosure made by the ghost at the beginning of the play. However, his insanity, either pretended or actual, has been a matter of great interest for the critics and analysts alike, where it becomes very difficult whether his real mental disorder begins after the end of his pretending the same, or he is in full senses till he encounters his fatal end. In addition, the curiosity also arises about the temporary state of insanity he undergoes, which maintains close proximity with real mental retardation instead of the feign kind of lunacy. Hamletââ¬â¢s insanity appears in the play in Act I Scene V, immediately after the revelation made by the ghost, which invites Hamletââ¬â¢s arousal, who looks resolute to enquire whether the ghost is justified in its claim or not. However, he is confident about the truthfulness of the statement made by the ghost; it is, therefore, he declares the queen as the most pernicious woman and a villain as well (Act I, Sc. V, line 105), which would not wait for even few weeks to remarry with the new king after the assassination of her previous husband. One of his first soliloquies also elucidates the same that even a beast could mourn longer the death of a spouse than his mother has done (Act I, Sc. II, lines 150-151); consequently, he declares frailty as synonymous to the woman (I, ii, line 146). Consequently, the situation of his fatherââ¬â¢s murder and his motherââ¬â¢s second marriage disturbs Hamlet in such a way that everything looks drab, dull and dismal to him. Eventually, he decides to take any step, even committing suicide to bring his life to an end. However, he decides pretending insanity, in order to punish the culprits involved in the conspiracy of his fatherââ¬â¢s murder. Hamlet settles his mind on wearing black clothes while attending the royal court in order to demonstrate his melancholy over his fatherââ¬â¢s sad demise as well as make the protest against the assassination through his words, acts, and gestures. Since his inner sorrow is so great that his dour appearance is merely a poor mirror of it (I.ii.68), so he would prefer to stay in nightly color in order to realize the queen about the graveness of the sad incident. In addition, he also takes his friend Horatio into confidence by informing him that he would observe feign madness and be finding anything odd and strange in his behavior would be just putting on an act (I, v, 166-183). The play, arranged by Prince Hamlet within the play, reveals that he has not observed real madness till he had hired the services of the actors. It is, therefore, he states that the play is the thing where he would catch the conscience of the king (II, ii, 600-601) by keenly witnessing his expressions at the death scene of the player king. He also plays the same trick on the queen by noticing her expressions, while the player queen views: A second time I killed my husband died when the second husband kissed me in bed.

Effects Of Working More Than 12 Hours A Day On A Regular Basis. Over Research Paper
Effects Of Working More Than 12 Hours A Day On A Regular Basis. Over time work and its effects - Research Paper Example Continuous over time work may reduce the productivity of the worker in the long run even though it may bring temporary gains to the organization and the worker. This paper analyses the effects of working more than 12 hours daily on a regular basis. Effects of working more than 12 hours a day on a regular basis Manpower shortage is one of the major problems in the organizational world at present. America, Britain and most of the other European countries are facing severe skilled manpower shortages even in critical sectors. At the same time the volume of work is increasing day by day. In order to solve this above problem, many of the prominent organizations in these countries are asking their employees to stay back and continue their work for another 4 to 6 hours daily as overtime. Globally, the regular working hours of an employee is fixed as eight hours under normal circumstances. It is because of the fact that a person needs ample rest daily in order to maintain his physical and men tal health. ... Man is a social animals rather than a machine. He has emotions, feelings and thoughts which he needs to express some way in order to maintain his physical and mental health. It is impossible for him to work like machines for a longer period. According to a study, employees working 60 or more hours posted a higher rate of injuries and other health problems (Concerns About Working Overtime May Be Misplaced, 2007). The frame of mind of the employees has an important role in controlling their performances in an organization. Majority of the employees hate overtime work even if it is scheduled for a single day. Everybody wants to take a break after the normal 8 hour work schedule in order to shed some of the stress developed during their work. More work means more stress for them. Many organizations have the false belief that overtime may improve the productivity of the workers and the organization. In fact, an employee may perform well only when he feels energetic both physically and men tally. Overtime work will exhaust his energy and he cannot keep certain level of performance continuously for longer periods. Moreover, regular overtime works or works more than 12 hours will destroy his productivity and his performance levels may get lesser and lesser as time passes. ââ¬Å"Extended working hours and more than required time spent at work place paves way for health complaints and too much of stress that can lead to injuries like an accident when drivingâ⬠(Johnsons, 2008). It is difficult for a worker to gather his concentration fully for doing something after a lengthy working hour in the organization. His body and mind will not combine properly at least for a temporary period after the

Health and Safety of Onshore oil Well drilling (Unayzah well in Saudi Research Paper
Health and Safety of Onshore oil Well drilling (Unayzah well in Saudi Arabia) - Research Paper Example Therefore, the following are the major safety and health guidelines that should be adhered to, to safeguard the lives of those people involved in the activity and reduce the adverse environmental impacts that this activity can causes. Travelling to the Site Travelling to the site entails all the safety details that concern the whole journey process. Thus, the major step to ensuring safety, is to ensure that the drivers taking the drilling team to the site are licensed by the relevant authorities (ERDSG, 2005 p31). Considering that different machineries have different driving characteristics, every driver should be well experienced in handling particular machinery. The new drivers should be inducted with the help of the experienced drivers (SISG, 1993 p32). All the workers should understand the dimensions of the machinery they are handling, including their speed limits, length, width and load capacity. Before making the main journey, a pre-trip test should be done to verify that all t he machineries are in good condition (ERDSG, 2005 33). Certification Requirements The drilling team should determine the required permits and certification by the relevant authority such as the local, state or the federal authorities. The team should prepare the necessary applications and submit the documents required by the authorities, which include excavation permits, work permits for the agency and the facility, as well as site permits (SRDWR, 2004 p25). The lead driller is then provided with the necessary permits to indicate that the drilling activity can commence (GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, 1976 p32). Having obtained the certifications and permits, the lead driller or the acting leader should verify that every aspect of drilling process has been approved to enhance the legal backing of the drilling procedure. Having obtained the certifications, the led driller can mobilize the team for the purpose of fencing off the facility where drilling is to be undertaken (SRDWR, 2004 p33). Person al Protective Equipments All the employees contracted for the purpose of the drilling activity should wear personal protective equipments (GWD, 6). The employees should wear hard hats and steel toed boots at all times they are operating on the work site. Workers should also wear reflective clothing, safety glasses or welding lids at all times, depending on the section in which they are operating (GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, 1976 p36). While the safety glasses protect the eyes of the workers, the reflective clothing ensures that all workers are visible on the worksite. Workers should always wear hand gloves for protecting their hands, while also ensuring to wear hearing protection (SISG, 1993 p44). This serves to protect the employees from hand or hearing damage. Additionally, when the workers are operating grinders, they should wear a full face shield on top of the safety glasses, to ensure that they are fully covered against eye and face damage (GEOLOGICAL SURVEY, 1976 p30). Fire Risk Fire risk is the most eminent thing in an oil well drilling site. Therefore, reasonable measures should be undertaken to mitigate this risk. The work site where welding, cutting or grinding is involved should be equipped with sufficient ABC types of fire extinguishers (GWD, 3). The fire extinguishers should be assessed and tested for proper functionality and operability before working on the site commences.

Individual on values - Essay Example nt of an organisation has been given fiduciary responsibility on the economic resources of the society that comprise of both human and natural resources. It is important for every organisation to consider the social, economic and environmental systems in which it is operating; the corporations that develop a long-term vision for their business along with their responsibilities towards the society are able to sustain their development in economy (Albareda, 2008; Crane et al., 2008). Considering the environment in which the organisation is operating is important so that all organisation functions are running in the right perspective and in an ethical manner. When the organisations accept their right of controlling economic resources of the society, the management agrees to take the duty of being accountable about using the assets. This level of accountability needs to be conducted on fair grounds and in a sincere manner by the organisation. Even if the organisation faces losses, it should realise that it needs to be accountable for the situation rather than indulging in false excuses. As the individuals in the management department are looking for a model that can help them in fulfilling their societal responsibilities, the ââ¬ËTriple Bottom Lineââ¬â¢ (TBL) concept was presented (Park & Stoel, 2005). The introduction of this concept acted as a vehicle for proper reporting about the articulation of the corporationââ¬â¢s environmental, economic and social performance (Ketola, 2009). Performances related to the environment and social concerns can be monitored with the help of the TBL concept. TBL has grown in popularity as it assists an organisation in determining the extent to which it is successfully meeting its responsibilities towards the community. The concept of TBL has given a direction to the management of organisations in developing the goals and objectives of the organisation according to the business environment. By following the guidelines specified in TBL,
